"Slow Emotion" is a single by American psychedelic rock band The Free Rock Trio. It is the lead single from the band's fourth studio album New Threads is Dead and was released on May 14, 2021 via Pink Hat Records.
Following the group's name change from New Threads in March 2021, "Slow Emotion" is the first single to be officially released as The Free Rock Trio. A music video was released alongside the track depicting the band in a garage performing the track, with each member fading in and out of the room. The single's artwork features the three severed heads showcased on New Threads is Dead's album artwork.
The song was written by Jacob Keplinger during the tail end of the Gone Wild sessions, and a live in-person studio recording was made in October 2020. However, the song was re-recorded following the band's hiatus and features a straight 4/4 beat, whereas the original featured more odd grooves and hits. This track is said to have inspired New Threads is Dead- according to Keplinger, New Threads was definitely done after Gone Wild, but it was "Slow Emotion" that motivated him to continue writing for the project (even if the band ultimately changed their name as a result).
Slow Emotion 2020
On October 6, 2021, just four days after the one-year anniversary of the Trio's third studio album Gone Wild, the band released a "lost" demo from those sessions- the first recording of "Slow Emotion," the track that would become the lead single on the band's next studio release.
